Live Huddersfield police cordon after reports of elderly man being attacked

A police cordon is in place on a Newsome street this morning following unconfirmed reports that an elderly man has been “attacked”. Officers have cordoned off the car park of a pub on Towngate where it is believed “an altercation” took place this morning. One eyewitness told YorkshireLive “an elderly gentleman” was attacked by two males.

It is thought the victim was taken away in an ambulance with “a big crack in the back of his head”. These reports are yet to be confirmed. A PCSO at the scene said the victim is “conscious and breathing”. West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
