Man arrested after assaulting and racially abusing security guard in Halifax

POLICE in Calderdale are appealing for information after it was alleged a man stole from a shop, before assaulting and racially abusing a security guard who tried to detain him. The incident happened at around 4.50pm on Friday, 12 March on George Square, Halifax. A security guard attempted to detain the man after he was suspected of stealing from the Wilkinsons store, when the man assaulted them and shouted racial abuse, before leaving the area on foot.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
